Sampson is located on southern tip of the Cumberland Plateau in what is known as the Fall Creek Falls area on the Bledsoe/ Van Buren County line, TN.
The Church was organized on October, 17 of 1930 and held services in the old one-room Samspon School House, located on the Old Spencer Highway. R.C. Lewis served as the first pastor. Charter members of the church were: Myrtle Haston, Ollie Cordell, Anna Lou Simmons, Willie Ann Martin, Robert Haston, Parker Mooneyham, and Joe Cordell.
Rev. R.C. Lewis rode on horseback from Ridgedale, TN he would come in on Saturday night spending the night with whoever asked him. Service was held once a month on Saturday night and Sunday morning; with Sunday school meeting weekly weather permitting.
As the church grew the need for a larger building was needed and the current property was purchased in 1971. Building was completed in the fall of 1973 with the first service held on October 21, 1973. Leslie Hickey was the pastor at that time. Today we are blessed to have Mr. Hickey teaching the adult Sunday school class.
Sampson has been blessed many faithful members over the years and many of the members today, have roots going back to the founders and/ or the early members of the church. But, no matter if you are new to the area or a long time resident you are family at Sampson FWB church.
In 1981, Sampson FWB Church built Sampson Christian Academy to serve the communities need for Christian education. Grades k-12 where taught here until 2013, that the school was closed with saddened hearts of those in the area.
We hope that you will come and join us in worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ.
